Associate Professor Chris Zaslawski is currently Director of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Associate Head of School, (Medical and Molecular Biosciences) at the University of Technology, Sydney. He has been practising acupuncture for 31 years and is also a physiotherapist. He has been a short term consultant for the World Health Organisation for a number of acupuncture related projects in the areas of education, research and clinical practice guidelines. Chris is an active researcher in the areas of acupuncture and pain, acupuncture clinical research design and human research ethics. He has been involved in several acupuncture clinical trials on stress, male subfertility, hepatitis C, lateral elbow pain and has just had published a Delphi study on a rating scale for assessing the adequacy of acupuncture in clinical trials. Chris has also been English editor for three acupuncture texts, which were published in conjunction with Chinese medicine colleagues from the Guangzhou University of Traditional Medicine and has published 25 papers of which 19 were in peer reviewed journals. He is also deputy editor of the Australian Journal of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Australia’s only peer reviewed journal on acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. In addition he is also on several journal international editorial boards including Acupuncture Research and Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science and is also one of four reviewers for the AMS Awards sponsored by the Journal of Acupuncture and Meridian Science. More recently he has also been involved in the development of international standards for TCM within the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and is the chair of the national Australian mirror committee for Chinese medicine for Standards Australia. Chris's research interests and area of expertise are in clinical trial methodology for acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture and pain and human research ethics.
