Sue is a medicinal plant specialist with broad experience in clinical practice, teaching and research. Originally based in Melbourne, in 1996 she moved to the Northern Rivers to take up a position as foundation herbal medicine lecturer to the Bachelor of Naturopathy program at SCU. Her teaching focuses on the historical and philosophical foundations that underpin traditional herbal practice in Australia and n the clinical use of medicinal herbs. Her particular interests in teaching and research include the education of herbalists and naturopaths; the role of traditional herbal knowledge and philosophy in contemporary herbal practice; the history of herbal medicine (particularly in Australia); and the interaction between traditional medical systems and biomedicine.

Sue's CAM research interests include: integrative medicine, traditional knowledge systems, history and philosophy of herbal medicine, sustainable use of medicinal plants.
