Executive Director of NORPHCAM appointed to Australian Naturopath Registration Board (Nov 10) |
Associate Professor Jon Adams, executive director of NORPHCAM, is selected as a community member on Australia's first independent regulatory board for naturopaths and herbalists. The Board for the Australian Register of Naturopaths and Herbalists (ARONAH) is expected to begin operation in mid 2011. It will for the first time set independent uniform national standards in training and practice for naturopaths and western herbal medicine practitioners in Australia, and develop a Register of practitioners who meet those standards.
The appointment builds on NORPHCAM's proud history in the promotion of naturopathic regulation in Australia. NORPHCAM Director Jon Wardle was a member of the Steering Committee that established ARONAH, and in 2008 compiled a report on the issue for the federal Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing.
Professor Adams' role with ARONAH means NORPHCAM will be actively involved in promoting higher standards for complementary medicine practitioners and in improving public safety. For further information, please visit:
