Before coming to Sydney I had research positions at the University of Leeds (UK), the University of Queensland and the University of Newcastle. I have since taken a Senior Lectureship in Sociology at the University of Sydney and become Deputy Director of the Australian Research Council Key Centre for Asia Pacific Social Transformation Studies (CAPSTRANS). I have just completed by third book and I am leading research projects in Australia, India, Sri Lanka and Brazil.
